Special Education
Special Education courses are designed to support students with disabilities by providing them with tailored instruction and resources to help them succeed academically. These courses follow the guidelines set by the California Department of Education (CDE) and are delivered by highly qualified educators trained in Special Education methods. The goal is to ensure that all students, regardless of their disabilities, have access to a quality education.
Courses may include a variety of subjects such as math, reading, science, and social studies, but with modifications or accommodations based on the students' individual needs. Additionally, specialized programs, such as life skills, transition planning, and vocational training, are often offered to prepare students for life after high school, including employment and independent living.
California middle schools also utilize a system of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), which are tailored to each student's unique requirements and developed in collaboration with parents, teachers, and other specialists. Special Education courses aim to provide an inclusive environment that fosters the academic, social, and emotional growth of students with disabilities.
