About the Superintendent
Mr. Gordon Pacheco was named Superintendent of the Kerman Unified School District in November 2022. His first day of tenure began on January 1, 2023. Mr. Pacheco is the sixth (6) Superintendent since the District unified in 1983. Mr. Pacheco is the first Superintendent in District history to have received elementary and secondary education in Kerman schools. He attended Sun Empire Elementary School, Kerman Middle School and graduated from Kerman High School.
Mr. Pacheco has spent his entire professional educational career in Kerman Unified School District. Mr. Pacheco has a proven track record of successfully engaging teachers, staff and students. He brings extensive experience in instruction, innovation, and personnel development. His experience as a Kerman Unified teacher combined with district-level leadership within the District uniquely qualify him for the role of Superintendent for Kerman Unified School District.
Mr. Pacheco obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and his Master’s Degree in Education Administration and Supervision from California State University, Fresno. He has 29 years of experience in public education, all with Kerman Unified. He began as a Social Science and Leadership teacher at Kerman High School. He also served as a coach and as the Athletic Director for Kerman High School. As an administrator, Mr. Pacheco served as Assistant Principal of Kerman High School, Principal of Kerman Middle School, Director of State and Federal Programs and Assistant Superintendent Personnel before moving into his current position of Superintendent.
During his time as a teacher and administrator with Kerman Unified, Mr. Pacheco earned a reputation as a collaborative district leader who believes strongly in the importance of equity in education. In his role of Assistant Superintendent Personnel for Kerman Unified School District, Mr. Pacheco provided support to approximately 600 staff at the District’s eight school sites. He successfully navigated the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, working tirelessly to lessen its impact on students, staff and families. His organizational skills and calm demeanor helped reduce the stress on our staff and successfully brought us through a demanding situation.
Mr. Pacheco has managed all aspects of school leadership and has specialized training in team building and collaboration, co-curricular and extra-curricular student activities, program budgets, Worker’s Compensation and Human Resources.
Mr. Pacheco has been married to his wife Michele for 25 years. They have four children ages 23, 20, 18 and 13. They enjoy spending time at their children’s activities and athletic events and visiting their college students currently attending the University of Arizona and the University of Texas.
